Murphys Place in downtown Toledo showcases great jazz music all year long with artists from all over the country.
We spent some time chatting with Renald and then stayed to hear the Murphys own group- we have included a sampling
of the talent for you to enjoy.
Team 14 wants to give a huge Thank You to David Topoleski in the Business-Technology Department at the Main Library!
We were having lunch at San Marcos, where we met David and found out he worked at the Library. David gave us a tour
and lots of insight to the library and the many resources the Lucas County libraries offer! We hope to see David
at some EPIC meetings soon!
We are already art lovers, so this was hard to pick from the many wonderful galleries around town. We chose to
attend Third Thursday Downtown Toledo, where the galleries stay open late to feature all types of artists. South St.
Clair was our favorite street, as we could have stayed here all night! Support an artist- buy local art!
The Toledo Museum of Art has a collection or class for everyone! Whether you are inside, outside or at the glass
pavillion, there is so much to see! We enjoyed the outside installations, the architecture, some classic impressionism,
modern art and the glass! We even found some classes we are looking forward to taking!
The Collingwood Arts Center- a true gem in the heart of Toledo! This historical set of buildings is amazing architecture
itself and then with the many local artists- from performers to musicians- this is a true Arts Center! Many have gone through
the Childrens Theater Workshop, from Katie Holmes and Rob Lowe to our very own Grace Toth! The theater is acoustically
one of the best in the country and the resident artists are inspiring! We had the opportunity to meet Alice Grace- artist,
visit with Evan and learn all about the organ and tour with Brian! This is a cultural must for everyone!
We had a connection to some local ballerinas and they agreed to a private performance! Team 14 gathered friends and family
for this one time only opportunity!
19. Toledo Botanical Garden
The Toledo Botanical Garden features many local artists and wonderful gardens. We saw great flowers in bloom,
the herb garden, geese and gooslings and even a swan nesting! And the daddy swan definitely let us know, how close was too
close! Every day is a good day at the Toledo Botanical Gardens- it is always changing!
